What Kind of Robes do Hotels Use

what makes bathrobes great

When you stay in several hotels, they seem to blend, but numerous factors may make a hotel stay seem exceptional and being a hotel wholesale provider, we know this better than most

Providing robes for your hotel guests is one of the easiest and frequently cheapest things you can do. Many low-cost hotels do not provide robes, believing they are extra to the offering. However, for higher-quality hotels, a complementary robe may make all the difference and set your business apart from the competition.

It’s pretty uncommon these days to see visitors wearing robes to breakfast for bed and breakfast proprietors that provide robes in their rooms. That’s how much these robes are adored by guests. Who could blame them? Nothing beats a warm, fluffy bathrobe to warm you up on a cool morning.

Years ago, seeing a guest dressed in a robe for breakfast would have been strange. However, that is not the only difference. The varieties of robes available to visitors at bed & breakfasts, spas, and resorts have also evolved. Traditionally, terrycloth robes were the most prevalent form of robe on the market, with velour appearing more frequently in higher-end catalogs and hotels.

However, robe producers have developed a wide range of robes with varying materials, designs, colors, dimensions, and weights.

How Are Hotel Robes Changing?

The typical hotel robe was usually a white terry garment with the hotel’s logo but little more to distinguish it from other robes. It was also only available in one size, which made replenishing and issuing considerably easier. Because the one size had to suit any guest, it was usually a large size that drowned most individuals.

It is changing as hotels recognize the need for distinctiveness in prospering in a competitive market and attracting a younger audience. While white terry robes remain popular due to their fluffy texture and familiarity, they are augmented by different colors and materials that provide diversity.

The robes are frequently more tailored, with smaller sleeves and shorter lengths. They may feature hoods and colored piping and come in various sizes, including those for youngsters. In sum, they are more liable to visitors’ wants and expectations.

Here are the kinds of Robes Used by Hotels:

Terrycloth:

Terry Cloth robes are still quite popular in the hospitality industry. Terrycloth is a fabric with uncut loops or piles that stands off from the ground. These loops significantly enhance the fabric’s surface area, increasing absorbency while keeping a soft feel. Terry fabric is often composed of cotton, although it can also be made of silk, linen, or other natural or synthetic fibers. Cotton is preferred by most manufacturers because, unlike other fabrics, its absorbent fiber strengthens when wet.

Velour:

Velour robes offer a luxurious appearance and feel. Velour is a moderate-weight fabric that is finely woven and pile-cut to provide a dense velvety surface. It can be made of cotton, synthetic materials, or a combination. It is warm and comfy, allows for mobility, and is an easy-care fabric.

Waffle Weave:

Waffle weave robes are available in pure cotton or cotton/polyester blends. Waffle weave creates a textured surface fabric with a characteristic grid-like pattern of recessed square or diamond patterns. The thermal qualities of the fabric provide warmth and insulation by trapping body heat and generating a warm layer adjacent to the skin, boosting heat retention. It is also a very absorbent material. Waffle weave robes with terry fabric inside are also available.

Bamboo blend:

Bamboo blend robes are manufactured from a natural material derived from bamboo plant pulp. Bamboo fiber is both ecologically friendly and antibacterial. Bamboo viscose is the fabric used in most bamboo goods like robes, towels, bedding, and other items. Bamboo items are usually combined with cotton during manufacturing.

Microfiber:

Microfiber robes are made of synthetic fibers like nylon and polypropylene. The form, size, and combinations of synthetic fibers are chosen for properties such as softness, toughness, absorption, and water and static resistance. Many microfiber robes include a soft terry fabric lining.

Choosing the Proper Robe Size:

Consider selecting a robe in a size that will fit most of your guests when purchasing one for your home. You will have guests of all body kinds and choose a “one size fits all” robe.

The easiest method to buy a robe is to have individuals of all sizes try it on to check whether it is comfortable. Even people with height should be able to wrap themselves in the robe.

If you are dissatisfied with this strategy, selecting a medium or large-size robe should suffice.

A nice robe should fall below the knees but not touch the floor. It should feature sleeves that may be rolled up for extra comfort. And the majority of robes seen at hotels, spas, and bed and breakfasts come with a matching belt.

Many robes include hoods. If you have a Jacuzzi outside, your guests may choose hooded robes to keep warm until they go inside.

Occasionally, one of your visitors will fall in love with the robes they discovered in their room. You should have spare robes at the front desk if they wish to buy one when they check out.
